FAQs
What is a VEVO check?
A VEVO check (Visa Entitlement Verification Online) discloses whether visa holders can provide their work entitlements in Australia. A VEVO check is completed online and will verify the following details:
- Passport Number
- Passport Nationality
- Visa Type (class / subclass)
- Visa Grant Date
- Visa Expiry Date (if applicable)
- Work Entitlement (including any conditions)
It allows visa holders to provide employers, education providers and other organisations the status of their visa conditions.
What does CVCheck's VEVO Visa & Work Entitlement Check include?
CVCheck’s Australian VEVO Visa Status & Work Entitlement check will verify that an individual has a right to work in Australia by either:
- Confirming they’re an Australian citizen or
- Conducting a VEVO visa check on non-Australian citizens which confirms their visa status directly with the department of Immigration and Border Protection.
How do I get a VEVO check?
The Australian Department of Home Affairs offers an online service where individuals, employers, education providers and other organisations can check visa conditions. This can be accessed here.
CVCheck can perform a wide range of background checks via its online platform. So, if the company you will be driving for requires you to submit a VEVO check and police check, we offer the convenience of both checks in one package – which can be ordered here. Once your results are ready, you can simply download the VEVO check and police check in a single PDF, then pass it on to the company you will be driving for.
Each rideshare, food delivery and courier service have its own process that drivers must follow in order to submit the results of their background checks. We recommend contacting the company you will be driving for to ensure you submit your results certificates to them correctly.
What checks do Uber drivers go through?
Uber requires all drivers to undergo a police check and VEVO check. You will find current Australian Uber driver requirements on the Uber website.
The police check that Uber requires is a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), which is also commonly known as a National Police Check (NPC). This check must be completed through Uber’s preferred background screening supplier. Further details about how to conduct this check can be found here.
The VEVO check that Uber requires can be conducted online via the Australian Department of Home Affairs website.
CVCheck can conduct both a National Police Check and VEVO Visa & Work Entitlement Check simultaneously via its online portal. Simply click here to place your order and have both of these products added to your cart. As Uber advises drivers to obtain checks from their preferred background screening supplier, CVCheck recommends you contact Uber prior to purchasing checks to ensure they will be accepted.
