Individual & Candidate Multi-Factor Authentication FAQs

Multi-Factor Authentication is now required for all Kinatico CVCheck Individual and candidate accounts
What is multi-factor authentication (MFA)?
Multi-factor authentication is an extra layer of security for your Kinatico CVCheck account. In addition to your password, you’ll be asked to verify your identity with a one-time code sent to your registered email address each time you log in.
Who does this apply to?
Multi-factor authentication applies to all individual and candidate Kinatico CVCheck accounts across Australia and New Zealand. It does not apply to client or employer accounts, which use a separate authentication solution already in place.
Why has Kinatico CVCheck introduced MFA?
Protecting your personal information is a core priority for us. Multi-factor authentication significantly reduces the risk of unauthorised access to your account, even if your password is ever compromised. This reflects our ongoing commitment to being a secure and trusted platform for your background verifications.
Is MFA mandatory?
Yes. Multi-factor authentication will be enabled automatically for to all individual and candidate Kinatico CVCheck accounts across Australia and New Zealand. You do not need to opt in or set anything up.
How does it work?
When you log in to your Kinatico CVCheck account, you’ll enter your password as usual. You’ll then be sent a one-time verification code to the email address registered on your account. Enter that code to complete your login. This code is stored and valid for 30 days so if you log back in within 30 days you will not be required to complete your MFA again within that timeframe.
What email address will the code be sent to?
The code will be sent to the email address currently registered on your Kinatico CVCheck account. If you’re unsure which email address that is, check your account settings or contact our support team.
What if I don’t receive my verification code?
Check your spam or junk folder first. Make sure the email address on your account is current and accessible. Wait up to 60 seconds before requesting a new code. If you’re still having trouble, contact our support team.
Can I use SMS or an authenticator app instead of email?
At this stage, email is the only supported verification method. We’ll let you know if additional options become available in future.
What if I no longer have access to my registered email address?
Contact our support team and we’ll help you update your email address and regain access to your account securely.
Does this affect how I complete a background verification?
No. The verification process itself is unchanged. Multi-factor authentication only applies to your account login, it adds a security step at sign-in, not during the verification process.
I’m an employer — does this affect my account or my people?
This change does not affect client or employer accounts. However, if your people hold individual Kinatico CVCheck accounts, they will be required to use multi-factor authentication when they log in. We recommend letting them know so they’re not caught off guard. You can share this FAQ page with them directly.
Who do I contact if I have questions?
