Certified ID
To get copies of identity documents certified:
- Present both the original and clear, readable copies of each identity document to the person certifying them – one identity document per page.
- Please note, your ID documents must be certified by someone within New Zealand to be accepted.
For a document to be classed as a certified copy, the person certifying the ID must write the following on each copy:
Identity document that includes photo
Certifier to write on each copy:
- “I have sighted the original version of this document and I have compared the photographic image with [your name] and confirm they appear to be the same person.”
- Their full name
- Their occupation
- Their contact details
- Their signature
- The date
Identity document that does not include a photo
Certifier to write on each copy:
- “I have sighted the original version of this document.”
- Their full name
- Their occupation
- Their contact details
- Their signature
- The date
