On 1 July 2018, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) revised the proof of identity requirements for Australian National Police Checks. This change affected all orders placed through CVCheck.
What are the new ID requirements?
Instead of the previous 100-point ID system, your applicants are now required to provide four identity documents:
- 1 x Commencement of Identity Document
- 1 x Primary Use in the Community Document
- 2 x Secondary Use in the Community Documents
If an applicant is unable to provide these documents due to exceptional circumstances, there are special provisions which allow alternative identity documents to be provided.
Proof of applicant identity
Additionally, a confirmed linkage between the applicant and their ID documents must be completed. Visually allowing a comparison of the applicant’s face to the photo ID they have provided (either in person or remotely).
For more information, please visit our ID Requirements page.
How will this impact you?
Managed Orders
If your organisation uses our Managed Order method – you are not required to submit or sight your applicant’s ID as they will be required to upload this at the time of completing their order online directly with us.
It is helpful, however, to inform your applicants of the forms of ID required to avoid delays and so they are prepared when processing their check.
Direct Orders
If your organisation uses our Direct Order method – you have a legal responsibility to ensure your applicant provides you with the minimum proof of identity documents as per our ID Requirements page. These ID requirements must be met before you can submit your order with us.
