Certified ID

To get copies of identity documents certified:

  • Present both the original and clear, readable copies of each identity document to the person certifying them – one identity document per page.
  • Copies of identity documents that include photos must be colour copies.

For a document to be classed as a certified copy, the person certifying the ID must write the following on each copy:

Identity document with a photo

  • “I have sighted the original version of this document and I have compared the photographic image with [your name] and confirm they appear to be the same person.”
  • Their name
  • Their occupation
  • Their contact details
  • Their signature
  • The date

Identity document without a photo

  • “I have sighted the original version of this document.”
  • Their name
  • Their occupation
  • Their contact details
  • Their signature
  • The date
